The Calvert Marine Museum is the official repository of Maryland’s rich and diverse fossil finds and the collections house more than 100,000 fossils. In 2018, The Calvert Marine Museum was designated as the Maryland State Paleontology Collections and Research Center.

Southern Maryland’s prehistoric past is a story of tremendous change over millions of years. Ancient creatures swam in deep water where now there are beaches and sand and cliffs. Dinosaurs walked where cars now travel. Come explore this amazing history for yourself!
